The Global Biodata Coalition (GBC) has announced the first list of Global Core Biodata Resources (GCBRs) — a collection of 37 resources whose long term funding and sustainability is critical to life science and biomedical research worldwide. ProteomeXchange consortium (PXC), of which jPOST is a member, is included in the first list.
A paper summarizing the past 10 years of activities and accomplishments of the ProteomeXchange consortium has been published. The paper also describes the data journal we launched, the Journal of Proteome Data and Methods (JPDM). We are promoting the reanalysis of higher quality data using the accurate metadata collected by JPDM. The ProteomeXchange consortium at 10 years: 2023 update. The Universal Spectrum Identifier (USI) is an essential mechanism for the wide use of proteomics data provided by the ProteomeXchange (PX) repositories. It has been discussed for a long time in the HUPO Proteomics Standards Initiative, to which jPOST member Prof. Kawano has contributed greatly. The USI facilitates access to the huge amount of spectral data registered in the PX repositories, and is expected to make proteomics data is more findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. We expect that the USI leads to the use of jPOST data and contribute to research in the field of life science, including proteome research. Universal Spectrum Identifier for mass spectra. Eric W.
